We are defenders of justice and friends of book lovers and writers alike. We protect anyone who shares that love for books. We are the Paper Sisters Detective Agency.

In a quaint little building in Hong Kong, there houses three sisters with the extraordinary ability to control and manipulate paper in any way they desire. They refer to themselves as the Paper Sisters. Michelle Chueng, the eldest sibling, the romantic daydreamer and hardcore book-collector. Maggie Mui, the middle sibling and soft-spoken bookworm who looks like and gets confused for a boy. And Anita King, the youngest and most brash of the sisters who, unlike her sisters, does not like books at all.

Reasons for this extreme dislike can be traced to her past. Anita is in essence a genetic experiment by the agency Dokusansha. They were working on creating Paper Masters that, unlike the vast majority of Paper Masters, were not bibliophiles, book lovers. By collecting genetic material from each Paper Master, they managed to create a "perfect" Paper Master, Anita. However, one day, Anita simply lost her memory, as it seemed, including how to use her skills. It was at this time that the agency dumped the girl on two agents, Maggie and Michelle. They were told to raise her and thus starting the sibling levels that they refer to themselves as. A year had passed, and during one of Anita's raves on her sister's book buying, she found one book that Michelle and Maggie both had when they first recieved Anita. When Anita started reading it, her memories started to return. Out of the blue, agents of Dokusensha busted through the sisters' apartmentto retrieve Anita, as they learned of her memory returning. Once they got her, an agent told the two paper masters to write themselves any amount they wished for on checks for their job on looking after Anita. The groups soon returned Anita back to their research labs to start tests on Anita, learning how the one book Mich and Mag had was the one thing that could control her powers. At this time, Michelle and Maggie had stormed into the agency's building, intent on taking back Anita from Dokusensha's hands. In the end, the building was flooded with paper as the sisters escaped from the building. Following that, the three decided it was time to start their own job, and thus the Paper Sisters Detective Agency was born.

Currently, Anita just lives a semi-peaceful life with her sisters. She may be the youngest, but with her sisters penchant for buying as many books as their wallets can, she's usually the mature one who is always managing the money, figuring out way to make more money and basically try to keep her sisters from wasting the money on books, much to their dismay. Anita, out of sisters, seems to be the one who many of the series antagonists and supporting cast interacts with the most. During one case, Anita meets up with a woman who goes by Lily the Reader Extraordinaire. Don't let the title fool you though, Lily is a master book thief. Anita accidentally figured one client to be as she said she was, but found out who she really was and made it a point to re-write what she did. Eventually, Anita managed to capture Lily and put her in jail. Lily considers Anita a rival, even tempting Anita and her sisters to go the way of book theft and live rich and wonderous lives. Anita also meets a kid named Chihon who first was on a mission to return a book from his passed away grandfather. The book was registered to no library on Earth, in fact, the library only comes to Earth once every 10 years. After that encounter, Anita and Chihon cross paths whenever a famous author or upcoming writer comes to Hong Kong. Anita sorta develops a sort of puppy crush on Chihon, but can't seem to understand why he'd rather write a novel than to be out and about "like a normal boy". Anita slowly lessens up her hate of books, maybe just for Chihon. But that's just speculation anyway. Anita is also seen saving the world from total apocalypse by reasoning with an alien. The alien was sent to observe Earth and to destroy it if the people did not stop having wars and such. She asks the three sisters to present her with a book that most represents humanity. Both Michelle and Maggie fail to persuade the alien (Michelle tried using a picture book filled with cute puppies and was turned down nearly instantly. The alien claimed they look absolutely horrible compared to their own space monsters, how ironic). When Anita's turn came up, she refused, since she doesn't like books and claimed it would be unfair for her to pass someone else's work as her opinion on humanity. Thus, the aline decides to spare Earth for a while longer. The alien even wrote on the moon that she'll be visited again. As the series comes to a close, Anita meets a mysterious woman and discusses books and why Anita seems to hate books. Anita hates books because deep down, she actually loves them. It's like what they say, "You punish a child because you love them." It sort of applies to Anita when we see Anita's interactions.

Anita is very athletic and energetic, as per usual for a "healthy young girl." Along with that, one of her likes is drinking milk, the reason never really given, but implied that she wants to grow up "nice" though this is taken from how Michelle teased her about being flat-chested. Michelle often comments that Anita is in the middle of a rebellous phase when it comes to her dislike for books. Inversely, she has a pretty huge love for stuffed frog dolls and loves collecting frog items. When on cases involving some action, Anita is the offensive fighter of the sisters. Her preferred ability to use with paper is turning them into throwing blades or using them to cut through things like rocks, walls, or even steel. Rather than using her full papermastering abilities, she is more a martial artist, using her paper abilities to simply complement her already high physical power.
